Workshop by Prof. M. M. Pant

Dear All On 28 June , I (along with whole staff of CRPF School) attended a workshop by renowned Physicist and Educationist Prof. M. M. Pant . It was a great learning experience. The two things which inspired me the most are as follows: A. A famous quote about IsidorIsaac Rabi (born American physicist and Nobel laureate recognized in 1944 for his discovery of nuclear magnetic resonance ) “My mother made me a scientist without ever intending to. Every other Jewish mother in Brooklyn would ask her child after school: So? Did you learn anything today? But not my mother. "Izzy," she would say, "did you ask a good question today?" That difference--asking good questions--made me become a scientist.” So, one should always ask questions and seek for the answers. B. Harvard University’s list of skills that make an “educated person”: 1.      The ability to define problems without a guide. 2.      The ability to ask hard questions which challenge...

OATH FOR STUDENTS

OATH FOR STUDENTS ☼ I will pursue my education with dedication and I will excel in it. ☼ I will plant at least five saplings and shall ensure their growth through constant care. ☼ I will constantly endeavour to remove the pain of my suffering brethren. ☼ I will work for becoming an enlightened citizen and make my family righteous. ☼ I will always be a friend of the mentally and physically challenged and will work hard to make them feel normal, like the rest of us. ☼ I promise that I will work hard with honesty to transform my country into a developed country. - Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam

Success Mantra for Students - Tips to Manage your TIME

Dear All Studying is a big commitment and needs time to work on it. Managing time is the best way for students to succeed. By managing your time, other commitments can be fulfilled and you can study without distractions.  You need to balance time. If you are bad at balancing things make a personal timetable. Even if you do not stick to it, you will have an idea what you should be doing each day. This is better than trying to do everything each day and, at the end of the week, not achieve anything. Choose a degree you are generally interested in rather than studying for the sake of having a degree. You will learn more because you are interested in the subject. Always look at your assignments as a challenge rather than saying "it is too hard". A task thought of as too hard can slow you down to a standstill. The same task thought of as a challenge can spur you on. It is best to keep up with your work. A timetable should be arranged each week, to ensure that you do not fall behi...

Teaching is a life time mission

Dear All, Here is a message by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam for all the teachers. To enable development of youth first and foremost, the teacher?s love for teaching is essential, with teaching as the soul of the teacher. The teacher must realize that they are responsible for shaping not just students but ignited youth who are the most powerful resource under the earth, on the earth and above the earth. With their full commitment to the great mission of teaching, the teacher transforms himself or herself as a great teacher only when he or she is capable of elevating the average student to high performance. The teacher conducting himself or herself in a noble way itself is a lifetime message for students. They should encourage the students and children to ask questions and develop the spirit of enquiry, so that they blossom into creative enlightened citizens. They should treat all the students equally and should not support any differentiation on account of religion, community or language and...

30 HABITS THAT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE

Dear All Developing good habits is the basic of personal development and growth. Everything we do is the result of a habit that was previously taught to us. Unfortunately, not all the habits that we have are good, that’s why we are constantly trying to improve. The following is a list of 30 practical habits that can make a huge difference in your life. You should treat this list as a reference, and implement just one habit per month. This way you will have the time to fully absorb each of them, while still seeing significant improvements each month. Health habits 1. Exercise 30 minutes every day. Especially if you don’t do much movement while working, it’s essential that you get some daily exercise. 30 minutes every day are the minimum recommended for optimal health. 2. Eat breakfast every day. Breakfast is the more important meal of the day, yet so many people skip it. Personally, I like to eat a couple of toasts in the morning along with a fruit beverage. 3. Sleep 8 hours. Sleep de...

SO FAR, MY JOURNEY AS A TEACHER..

Dear All July 2 – a very special and important day for me for this entire decade. I’m proud to share with all of you that I joined CRPF Public School as a Mathematics teacher on this very date exactly ten years back. This day marked the beginning of an absolutely delightful journey of my life. Today, when I go down the memory lane, I can recall each and everything very distinctly. I see myself as a young, energetic and a passionate Mathematics teacher who wanted to impart the best Mathematics which exists to his students. And I honestly believe that I have kept that promise so far with utmost sincerity. Like every other journey in life, this one has had its ups and downs too – there were times when I got really upset at the overall discouraging performance by some students and then there were times when I was simply proud of the fantastic achievements of my students in academics and other fields altogether. Someone has very rightly said that “ Success is a journey, not a destination. ...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO GREATEST INDIAN MATHEMATICIAN -- SRINIVASA RAMANUJAN

Image
The Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan Aiyangar (1887-1920) is best known for his work on hyper geometric series and continued fractions. Srinivasa Ramanujan, born into a poor Brahmin family at Erode on Dec. 22, 1887, attended school in nearby Kumbakonam. By the time he was 13, he could solve unaided every problem in Loney's Trigonometry , and at 14 he obtained the theorems for the sine and the cosine that had been anticipated by L. Euler. Ramanujan became so absorbed in mathematics that when he entered the local government college in 1904 with a meritscholarship, he neglected his other subjects and lost the scholarship. Ramanujan married in 1909, and while working as a clerk he continued his mathematical investigations. In January 1913 Ramanujan sent some of his work to G. H. Hardy, Cayley lecturer in mathematics at Cambridge . Hardy noticed that Ramanujan had rediscovered, and gone far beyond, some of the latest conclusions of Western mathematicians. In...

PROUD TO BE A TEACHER

Hello All Writing at my blog after a long time... My dear students and their love forced me to do so. Today 'Teachers Day' was celebrated in the school. I felt very good and honored by the love and affection shown by my students. Well, its not the cards or flowers which can ever make a good teacher but its the 'real' and unconditional love which do that. I thank to God to help me decide my career as a teacher. I am a teacher by choice and not by chance. I THANK ALL MY DEAR STUDENTS TO MAKE ME FEEL PROUD BEING A TEACHER. And yes, A token of love presented to me today by Aakash and Sasha, my dear students...

Orientation Program - class IX about CCE

Dear All On 7 November 2009, an orientation program for class IX about Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) was organised in the school. Parents of the students studying in class IX were invited for the same. Parents were addressed by Principal Sir, Vice-Principal Ma'am and me. The basic idea was to create awareness among parents about the new evaluation system, which we will be followed in our school for class IX and then will be continued till class X. I was a part of the school's team which attended a teacher-training workshop organized by CBSE for the same. It was really a wonderful experience to share the acquired knowledge with all. For more details you can visit school's blog .

Train alert!

A group of people were asked the following question. ``Say there are 2 people tied to a railway track, and a train is fast approaching. You have time to save just one of them. Which one would you save?'' The politician replied ``After arranging for a television crew to be present, and preferably making sure there was a press conference afterwards, I would rescue the one with the louder screams.'' The accountant replied ``I would rescue the one who offered to pay me most.'' The journalist replied ``I would ask the train driver to delay the collision till I could get a camera.'' The lawyer replied ``I would jump into the train and offer my services to the driver, who will almost certainly be sued by relatives of the two. '' The physicist replied ``I would derail the train, as your question did not place any limitations on the safety of those in the train.'' The statistician replied ``I would toss a coin to pick one of them. The...

The equations of knowledge and power

Here's one of those things friends send to friends over the Internet, leaving the original author lost (or simply hiding). After applying some simple algebra to some trite phrases and cliches a new understanding can be reached of the secret to wealth and success. Here it goes. Knowledge is Power, Time is Money, and (as every physics student knows) Power is Work over Time. So, substituting algebraic equations for these time-worn bits of wisdom, we get: K = P ...(1) T = M ...(2) P = W/T ...(3) Now for a few simple substitutions. Put W/T in for P in equation (1), which yields: K = W/T ...(4) Put M in for T into equation (4), which yields: K = W/M ...(5) Now we've got something. Expanding back into English, we get: Knowledge equals Work over Money. What this MEANS is that: Theorem 1. The More You Know, the More Work You Do, and Theorem 2. The More You Know, the Le...

New Year came a second late...

Hello All I know its late to share this piece of information with you... but yet its worth reading! T rue. It is indeed a fact. Incredible, unbelievable but that is the real! Anyone who cared to observe keenly would have noticed that on 1 January 2009 at sharp 5:30 a.m. IST one extra second appeared! After 5:29:59 a.m. we had 5:29:60 a.m. and then 5:30:00 a.m. In normal circumstances 5:29:59 a.m. should be followed by 5:30:00 a.m. There is no time called 5:30:60 at all! Such addition of a second is called ‘leap second’, very similar to addition of a day in the leap year. This was done because; sharp at 5:30:00 a.m. it was 24:00:00 at Greenwich Mean Time. In the clock at Greenwich , 31 December 23:59:59 p.m. was followed by 23:59:60 and then moved on to 0:00:00. So at precisely 23:59:60 at Greenwich, England, on New Year’s Eve, there was a one-second void before the onset of midnight and the start of the New Year. To read the complete article, click here .

WHY A STUDENT FAILS ???

Hello All One of my student has send me this... Although I am not convinced... What do you say? It's not the fault of the student if he fails, because the year has ONLY 365' days. Typical academic year for a student. 1. Sundays-52,Sundays in a year, you know Sundays are for rest. Days left 313. 2. Summer holidays-50 where weather is very hot and difficult to study. Days left 263. 3. 8 hours daily sleep-means 130 days. Days left 141. 4. 1 hour for daily playing-(good for health) means 15 days. Days left 126. 5. 2 hours daily for food & other delicacies(chew properly & eat)-means 30days. Days left 96. 6. 1 hour for talking (man is a social animal)-means 15 days ! Days left 81. 7. Exam days per year atleast 35 days. Days left 46. 8. Quarterly, Half yearly and festival (holidays)-40 days. Balance 6 days. 9. For sickness at least 3 days. Remaining days 3. 10. Movies and functions at least 2 days. 1 day left. 11. That 1 day is your birthday. "How can you study at that da...

August 7 , 2009 is special

At 12hr 34 minutes and 56 seconds on the 7th of August this year, the time and date will be 12:34:56 07/08/09 Amazing!!! 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 This will never happen in your life again!!!

Small truth to make our Life 100% successful....

Let A = 1,B = 2, C = 3, D = 4, E = 5, F = 6, G = 7, H = 8, I = 9, J = 10, K = 11, L = 12, M = 13, N = 14, O = 15, P = 16, Q = 17, R = 18, S = 19, T = 20, U = 21, V = 22, W = 23, X = 24, Y = 25, Z = 26 ______ Then, H = 8 A = 1 R = 18 D = 4 W = 23 O = 15 R = 18 K = 11 Makes 98% ______ K = 11 N = 14 O = 15 W = 23 L = 12 E = 5 D = 4 G = 7 E = 5 Makes 96% _____ L = 12 O = 15 V = 22 E = 5 Makes 54% _____ L = 12 U = 21 C = 3 K = 11 Makes 47% (None of them makes 100%) _____ Then what makes 100%?? Is it Money? ..... NO!!! Leadership? ..... NO!!! Every problem has a solution, only if we perhaps change our "ATTITUDE". It is OUR ATTITUDE towards Life and Work that makes OUR Life 100% Successful.. A = 1 T = 20 T = 20 I = 9 T = 20 U = 21 D = 4 E = 5 Makes 100%
